1. Formula 1 Race Leagues

Formula 1 Championship events are the most closely fought and competitive of the Race Station leagues, therefore they are the most regulated events which are normally monitored by a race steward. All drivers must adhere to the following regulations

1.1  Driver Etiquette 

 

1.1.1   All drivers must behave in a well mannered and non abusive way at all times. Any behaviour non commensurate to this will not be tolerated.

 

1.1.1.1  This includes, but is not limited to, threatening or abusive language used over in game microphones, sending abusive or intimidating messages privately or in forums, or any other action that is deemed unacceptable by the FIA. The FIA reserves the right to investigate any reports of behaviour made by members, along with the right to impose an appropriate penalty, with league bans reserved for severe cases.

 

1.1.2   All leagues run at fixed times and dates as described in the race calendar. No member shall be permitted to join another league on Race Station or any other website whilst they are entered into a league. Doing so may result in entry to that league being withdrawn. 

 

1.1.3   All drivers must make a concerted effort to attend their scheduled races. If a driver is unable to attend a race they must state the reason for their absence in their league forum. Failure to attend three consecutive races without due reason may result in the driver being removed from the league.

 

1.2  Race Rules and Procedures

 

1.2.1        Conditions of each league are set out in the league forum. This sets out conditions such as race distance, car performance, driver aids etc.

 

1.2.2        If a driver causes a collision during a race, they must hand the position back. If that driver feels it is a race incident they are permitted to carry on but they may be expected to explain the steward after the race. If a driver is involved in a collision as a result of other driver’s actions which is not noticed by the race steward, they are entitled to raise the incident by way of appeal (see section ‘appeals’). This will be investigated by the FIA

 

1.2.3        All qualification and race sessions will be monitored by a race steward. Occasionally a steward may issue an instruction to a driver. When this happens the driver in question must acknowledge the steward by adhering to the request.

 
 

1.2.4        If a steward notices an incident on track, they will inform the drivers concerned that the incident is under investigation. If the steward believes a driver has breached the rules they may impose a penalty in line with the offence, or they can refer the incident to the FIA. Any driver may reserve the right to appeal any penalty imposed with the FIA.

 

1.2.5        The race circuit is defined by the white lines painted at the edge of the circuit. All drivers are required to keep no less than 2 wheels within the track limits at all times. This includes all parts of the circuit including corner entry, apex and exit.

 

1.2.5.1  For the purpose of clarity, the white lines are part of the circuit boundary, but if a driver has a 3^rd wheel over this boundary by 1mm it is deemed to have left the track. If a driver has gained an advantage they may be liable to receive a penalty.

 

1.2.6        Drivers are permitted to make up to two consecutive corner cuts before being penalised, but more than three may invoke a penalty, based on a sliding points scale, i.e. 3 cuts = 1 point, 4 cuts = 2 points, 5 cuts = 4 points, 6 cuts = 6 points, 7 cuts = 8 points, 8 cuts = 10 points, 9 cuts = 12 points, 10 cuts = 15 points, 11 cuts = 18 points, 12 cuts = 25 points. Further cuts will likely incur the driver further penalties such as, but not limited to suspended race bans or whatever is deemed appropriate by the investigating steward or the FIA.

 
1.2.7        If a driver leaves the track (i.e. all four wheels are outside the track) they must rejoin the track in a safe manner that does not impede other drivers. However if a driver notices another driver returning to the circuit they are expected to take reasonable action to avoid a collision, so long as the driver returning to track does not cross the whole of the path of the circuit. 

 
1.2.8        If a driver leaves the track, they must drive back to the circuit. Pressing the reset button to return to track through the in game menu will result in the driver being black flagged.

 
1.2.9        When racing, drivers must not force other drivers out of the circuit limits and when cars are side by side, one car with must always be left by the defending driver. A car is deemed to be side by side from when the front wing of the chasing car is alongside the rear wheel of the defending car.

 
1.2.10    When defending position, drivers are permitted to make one defensive manoeuvre. Drivers are permitted to move back to the racing line before a corner entry, but a driver must not make a change of direction whilst in the braking zone, and they must always leave one cars with of space for the chasing car.

 
1.2.11    All drivers must aim to complete a race distance. Under no circumstances must a driver crash deliberately, doing so will incur a suspended race ban. If a driver would like to retire from a qualifying session they may be permitted to do so by leaving the circuit at a safe place that will not impede another driver, parking the car and placing it in neutral gear, and selecting ‘retire from session’ from the in game menu.

 

1.2.12    A qualifying session is deemed to have started when the 15 minutes has started to countdown in the session. A race session is determined to have started when the drivers are in the garage before going to track. When this race session has started, there will be a 5 minute break before the race is started, which is the responsibility of the steward. 

 

1.2.13    If one or more drivers loose connection during a qualifying session, the session will be restarted once. If the same or another driver looses connection again, the session will not be restarted. If one or more drivers loose connection during a race, the race will not be restarted. If a driver looses connection after completing 90% of the race distance, they will be classified and if applicable can score points, but their classification will be after the last finishing driver in the race. 

 
1.2.14    If a driver is to be absent from a race, to maintain numbers in the race, a replacement AI driver may be used as a substitute if a reserve driver is not available, however any points gained by an AI driver can only be counted towards that teams constructors championship and not in the drivers’ championship.

 
1.2.15    Race Station’s F1 leagues operate a promotion and relegation system. At the end of the season 2/3 drivers will move up from each league, whilst 2/3 will move down. If a driver decided they do not wish to participate in a league, and subsequently wishes to rejoin, it may be required for them to rejoin the lowest league. 

 
2        Other Leagues

 

Race Station organises and runs other leagues on different games. These are less competitive than the Formula 1 leagues, and do not usually involve a steward, however rules of etiquette, corner cutting, safe return to track and not forcing other drivers off track still apply in all events. There will be no penalties applied to other leagues however we expect drivers to show a level of respect to each other. 

 

3        FIA Meetings

 

The FIA is a body who discus all aspects of league races, investigates incidents and appeals and manages the websites. The following is a guideline for FIA meetings.
